The Milton Method

Cold water sterilising with Milton is very easy and quick. There are just 3 simple steps;

 

1	Clean utensils thoroughly after each feed.

 

• Clean bottles and teats* thoroughly with warm soapy water.
• Rinse with cold water.

*For latex teats, rub inside and out with salt to remove all milk deposits and rinse.

 

2	Prepare the Milton solution.

 

Fill your Milton Sterilising Unit, or similar unit, with cold water. For every 5 liters of water add 2 half caps (30ml) of Milton Fluid, or 1 Milton Tablet .

 

3	Add your items to the solution

• Ensure that no air bubbles are trapped inside the bottles/utensils.
• Everything in the solution will be ready to use after 15 minutes or can be left in the solution for 24 hours until you need to use them again.
• Wash your hands before removing utensils from the solution.
• Drain bottles and teats - there is no need to rinse.
• Fill bottles immediately and cover teats to prevent any germs or bacteria coming onto contact with the sterilized bottle.
