• Use a solution of Milton to wipe down the surfaces that cannot be sterilised, or for an even quicker alternative, use Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes.
• If you are storing your milk in the freezer, allocate a shelf and clean it thoroughly with Milton Antibacterial Surface Spray.
• To keep teats, teethers and soothers sterile all day, fill a small plastic bowl with Milton solution and place the items in it. Ready to use after 15 minutes, you will have an available supply all day.
• To ensure your hands are hygienically clean before and after feeding or changing baby, use Milton Antibacterial Hand Gel, it's quick and easy to use with no need to rinse.
• Make up a solution of Milton and fill the nappy bin. Leave for 15 minutes to destroy any lurking bacteria. Alternatively, use Milton Antibacterial Fabric Solution.
• Always sterilise plastic toys and items such as rattles and building blocks and anything else that goes into baby's mouth.
• If you offer your child fruit slices, soak the fruit in a Milton solution for 15 minutes first to destroy any bacteria on the surface. Then rinse.

• Wipe the inside of your fridge and freezer down with Milton to remove stains, odours and destroy any bacteria present.
• Stained cups and beakers can be soaked in a solution of Milton until stain has disappeared. Always wash melamine as soon as possible after use to avoid stains.
• Wash chopping boards in warm soapy water, rinse and wipe over with Milton to destroy onion/garlic smells and to disinfect the surface to avoid cross contamination of foods.
• Toothbrushes and combs can be soaked in a solution of Milton to make them more hygienic.
• Shower curtains can also be soaked in Milton to disinfect.

Babies are especially vulnerable, but the whole family is at risk from germs that can cause food poisoning.

Germs are carried into the kitchen every day, on contaminated food, people and pets. Once there, they are able to multiply rapidly in the warm, moist conditions of the kitchen. It's a frightening thought that one germ can become one million in just 3 hours!

Milton Sterilising Fluid kills germs and can be used wherever food is prepared or stored. Here are some ways you can use Milton to help protect your family from food germs.

• Food poisoning bacteria such as Salmonella, Campylobacter and E.coli are often found in raw meat and poultry.
• You can use a Milton solution to rinse out the inside of chickens and kill the surface bacteria that often lurk there, and thorough cooking of all meat and poultry will kill most germs and ensure it is safe to eat.

Dilution: 15ml (half a cap) to 2.5 litres of water (0.6% concentration).

Method: rinse in a solution of Milton for 2 minutes to destroy salmonella in the body cavity and on the surface before cooking to prevent cross infection

• After you have prepared raw meat, germs may be left behind on the chopping board or work surface. These will then be transferred to other foods prepared on the same board or surface.
• To avoid cross-contamination, always wipe down chopping boards and work surfaces with Milton solution or spray between uses.

Also use Milton to clean wooden and plastic spoons, spatulas, etc. between uses.
Dilution: 45ml (3 half caps) to 2.5 litres of water.
Method: Wash or wipe as appropriate.

Germs may be carried on fresh produce such as salad items, fruit and vegetables which you may want to eat raw. In particular, Shigella bacteria are commonly transmitted via fresh produce.

Whenever food is not going to be cooked, you need to be extra careful.

Simply washing salads, fruit and vegetables will remove any visible contamination, but will not necessarily make them safe to eat. For pregnant women who are more at risk, it may be advisable to take extra care and use Milton Sterilising Fluid to disinfect all fresh fruit and vegetables.

After washing, immerse them in a solution of Milton for 15 minutes then rinse, before preparing them in the normal way.

Milton leaves no unpleasant taste or smell. And there's an added benefit.....you'll find they stay fresh longer

Although germs prefer warm conditions, they can survive perfectly well in the cold, and even freezing doesn't kill them.

To kill germs and stop mould developing, wipe the fridge and freezer inside and out with a solution of Milton at least once a week.

Don't forget the shelves and storage units. If you keep food in plastic containers, these must be washed and disinfected with a solution of Milton between uses.

Always clean the inside of ovens and microwaves after use. The warm, moist environment provides a haven for germs unless spillages and condensation are cleared up. After cleaning, wipe over with a Milton solution.
